This is a courtesy translation. In case of doubt, the German version prevails.
The provider of the InstaDetox app is Shortcut IT GmbH, Försterstr. 11A, 31275 Lehrte, Germany, represented by Managing Director Stephan Hötger. Full details are in the imprint.
These terms govern the use of the app. The purchase of the paid subscription is additionally governed by the Google Play terms (see section 6).
InstaDetox is a digital wellbeing app. It renders apps you select in grayscale, because less colour means less stimulus, and thereby supports you in reducing your screen time. It can also show a short breathing pause before a selected app opens.
InstaDetox is not a medical device and not a therapy. The app makes no health-related claims and does not replace professional advice in cases of problematic usage behaviour.
No particular outcome is owed. The statistics shown are based on estimates and are not exact measurements.
A subscription is not required to use the app. The following are available permanently and free of charge:
Reserved for the subscription are:
InstaDetox requires Android 8.0 or newer and an activated accessibility service, which you enable yourself in the Android settings.
Important for the system-wide grayscale filter. This function changes a protected system setting. You have to grant the necessary permission once, yourself, on your own device.
From Android 11 this works in a guided flow directly on the phone, without a computer.
On Android 8, 9 and 10 it is only possible using a computer and a USB cable, because these Android versions do not support the required wireless debugging. We state this limitation in the store listing and before purchase.
The app uses interfaces of the Android operating system that we do not control. Device manufacturers may implement system functions differently or restrict background processes, which can impair individual functions.
You can try both paid functions free of charge. No payment details are required and nothing is ever charged automatically. When a trial period ends, the function in question simply switches off, and the app tells you the reason the next time you try to enable it.
The two trial periods run independently of each other. As long as you have never used a function, its trial period does not start either.
The subscription is concluded through Google Play. The purchase contract is concluded not with Shortcut IT GmbH, but with the Google entity named in the Google Play Terms of Service applicable in your country:
Payment, invoicing, cancellation, withdrawal and refunds are therefore handled through Google Play under the terms applicable there.
The regular price is EUR 9.99 per year. For the first year an introductory price of EUR 4.99 applies. After the first year the subscription renews automatically at the regular price of EUR 9.99 per year. All prices include statutory VAT. The price shown to you in the Google Play purchase dialogue is the one that applies.
The subscription runs for one year and renews automatically for a further year unless you cancel beforehand. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for, and the functions remain usable until then.
Cancellation is done in the Google Play subscription management. The app settings contain a direct link for this.
Right of withdrawal: when purchasing digital content through Google Play, you as a consumer have a statutory right of withdrawal, which you exercise towards Google Play. Please contact Google Play support for this.
Independently of that: if you are not satisfied with InstaDetox, write to us at instadetox-support@shortcut-it.com. We will find a solution, including after statutory deadlines have passed.
We occasionally issue unlock codes that enable the paid functions for a limited period. Codes are only ever given away and never sold. They are verified entirely on your device and are not transmitted.
A code is not tied to any payment. An unlocked code does not create a subscription and no automatic renewal. Once the unlock period ends, the app behaves as it does after a trial period. There is no entitlement to the issue or extension of codes.
We provide updates for the duration of the subscription to the extent required to maintain the conformity of the app. This includes security updates.
InstaDetox builds on interfaces of the Android operating system. If these are changed, restricted or removed by the operating system vendor, individual functions may cease to work in whole or in part without us being able to prevent it. Should this occur, we will inform you and you may cancel the subscription.
You receive a simple, non-transferable right to use the app on the devices you use, for your own purposes. Resale, rental or transfer of unlock codes for consideration is not permitted. All rights in the app remain with Shortcut IT GmbH.
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. In cases of simple negligence we are liable only for breach of material contractual obligations (obligations whose fulfilment is essential to the proper performance of the contract and on whose observance you may regularly rely), and limited in amount to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Liability under the German Product Liability Act remains unaffected.
This app does not interrupt emergency calls, notifications or system functions. It only changes the colour rendering and displays on-screen elements.
We may change these terms if the app, the legal situation or the requirements of Google Play change. We will inform you in the app about material changes. If you do not object and continue to use the app, the amended terms apply; otherwise you may cancel the subscription.
German law applies. If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.
Under section 36 VSBG we state that we neither participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board nor are we obliged to do so.
Should any provision of these terms be invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions remains unaffected.
